We have had a wonderful first couple of weeks in Room 4G! In addition to getting to know each other and learning classroom routines, Room 4G students have also embarked on their journey of 4th grade learning! Last week, students started off the school year by making personal academic and social goals and creating a class-wide "Goals Quilt" (come see it hanging up on our bulletin board!). Students have all shared special summer souvenirs and memories with their classmates and have gotten started on their first writing project of the year. In math, students are exploring the properties of "Magic Square" puzzles using all four mathematical operations. We have also started reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon in anticipation of author Grace Lin's visit to Baker in November!
This week, students were introduced to 4th grade Social Studies through a "Scavenger Hunt" of their classmates' cultures, languages and traditions. We learned that "Social Studies starts with us" as we discovered all the countries in the world our classmates connect to (Bangladesh, Korea, Israel, Russia, China, Germany and the Dominican Republic… just to name a few!). Please enjoy a few pictures of 4G students working together as they learned from each other!
